I found my way to Chinese Medicine while trying to find answers for my own chronic health problems. After a rock climbing accident, where I spent about five years in Physio I was struggling with a cumulative impact on my mental health, digestion and then the pain and dysfunction from the accident. While trying to relearn how to move, I spent a great deal of time trying to understand the dynamic impact of impaired movement from an injury. What was borne out of that was the insight of looking at the whole body and it’s movement when treating pain. From that experience to the loss of my son to leukemia, I began to understand that there is an important role that emotions, like grief, fear, anger etc....have in our healing. In Chinese Medicine, we learn that anything that doesn’t move properly creates pain, including emotions. That brought me to what I love most about Chinese Medicine and acupuncture, its wholistic nature . When I sought help for pain and digestive problems, my emotions, my diet and my lifestyle became an important part of treatment, empowering me as a patient. This leads to one of the most important aspects of Chinese Medicine, which is treatment of the individual. I do not treat your disease, I treat you as a person. When you come in to see me, the most important thing I get from each visit is a deeper understanding of you as a person. That helps me understand how to help you, more than knowing the name of your disease. Watching your posture how you walk, how you breathe and how you express yourself provide valuable insight into how to help you heal. My education includes: Acupuncture & Chinese Medicine at MacEwan University Aromatherapy at Aromahead School of Essential Oil Studies/Tisserand Institute Biomechanics, posture, weight training and fitness at AFLCA Trauma/attachment psychology at the Post Institute, Government of Alberta, University of Lethbridge, BYUI, NICABM/Lift Education Personal Coaching Foundations - CTI, Strength Based Coaching - Strength Strategy/People Acuity Herbalism at Academy of Holistic Healing Arts, Hunyan Academy, David Winston Center for Herbal Studies, East West School of Planetary Herbology Korean and Classical Acupuncture with H.B. Kim, Toby Daly and Jonathon Snubbs             When I am not studying Chinese Medicine and Herbs or creating some herbal or medicinal concoction, I love gardening, walking, and spending time with my family.

Paula offers Acupuncture & Chinese Medicine Services

Modern life places constant demands on the body and mind. Many of the people I see come in feeling overwhelmed, run down, or “stuck in overdrive,” experiencing pain, stress, anxiety, poor sleep, digestive and hormonal concerns , or persistent tension that affects their quality of life. As an Acupuncturist and Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner, I take a whole-person approach to care rather than focusing on symptoms alone. I consider how your nervous system, movement, sleep, digestion, nutrition, lifestyle, and emotional wellbeing work together to influence your overall health. I have advanced training in musculoskeletal and electro-acupuncture, with a particular interest in treating pain, movement dysfunction, and chronic tension. Every treatment begins with a thorough assessment of your health history, current concerns, and goals, allowing your care to be tailored to your individual needs. Many of my appointments are 90 minutes, giving us time to combine acupuncture with hands-on therapies such as Tui Na, cupping , guasha , acupressure, reflexology, and head massage when appropriate. I enjoy creating a calm, restorative treatment experience that encourages deep relaxation, helps settle the nervous system, and allows you to reconnect with your body. I believe that simple, realistic nutrition and lifestyle habits can complement acupuncture treatment. When appropriate, I offer practical education and guidance within my scope of practice that fits into everyday life, helping you take an active role in supporting your health and wellbeing. I especially enjoy working with people who are curious about their health and are looking for a thoughtful, collaborative approach to care. My hope is that you’ll leave each treatment feeling heard, supported, and with a better understanding of your body, along with practical tools to help you move forward with greater confidence and ease. Outside the Clinic Outside the clinic, you’ll often find me painting, spending time in nature, listening to music, or exploring philosophy and lifelong learning. These interests have shaped my understanding that health is not only about addressing symptoms, but also about cultivating balance, resilience, and a deeper connection with ourselves and our everyday lives. I strive to bring that same sense of presence into my practice by creating a calm, thoughtful environment where you feel heard, understood, and cared for.
