I found my way to Chinese Medicine while trying to find answers for my own chronic health problems. After a rock climbing accident, where I spent about five years in Physio I was struggling with a cumulative impact on my mental health, digestion and then the pain and dysfunction from the accident. While trying to relearn how to move, I spent a great deal of time trying to understand the dynamic impact of impaired movement from an injury. What was borne out of that was the insight of looking at the whole body and it’s movement when treating pain.
From that experience to the loss of my son to leukemia, I began to understand that there is an important role that emotions, like grief, fear, anger etc....have in our healing. In Chinese Medicine, we learn that anything that doesn’t move properly creates pain, including emotions.
That brought me to what I love most about Chinese Medicine and acupuncture, its wholistic nature . When I sought help for pain and digestive problems, my emotions, my diet and my lifestyle became an important part of treatment, empowering me as a patient. This leads to one of the most important aspects of Chinese Medicine, which is treatment of the individual. I do not treat your disease, I treat you as a person. When you come in to see me, the most important thing I get from each visit is a deeper understanding of you as a person. That helps me understand how to help you, more than knowing the name of your disease. Watching your posture how you walk, how you breathe and how you express yourself provide valuable insight into how to help you heal.

It can be tough to navigate our modern-day world without physical pain, anxiety, depression, or questioning the state of our mental health along the way. We can often develop poor coping mechanisms and be completely unaware of the true culprits to our ailments. It is essential to identify imbalances in the body, mind, and spirit because it can lead to further issues and illness if left untreated. You know the saying, ‘you’re only as strong as your weakest link,’ which is why holistic practices are so powerful as it embraces the concept that your body functions as a cohesive system.
I’ve always had a longing to help others in need, even while I was bearing the weight of my own stressful situations and traumatic experiences. While studying Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture, I recognized that I needed to grow and heal myself. Applying what I learned in my studies to my own well-being gifted me with the ability to empathize and identify disharmony in my clients with a zero-judgement approach. I don't only treat my clients for physical pain; I also support them emotionally and spiritually. I listen and help educate my clients to equip them with the knowledge, resources, the ability to believe in themselves and offer solutions to help manage their health concerns and everyday life stressors. I will educate and advocate for you in your pursuit of feeling and becoming your best self. People often forget the magic and strength they possess within themselves, and I would love to help you find it.
In my spare time, I enjoy sharing life with my three mostly grown children, creating art, and maintaining an active lifestyle. My work is my passion, I am continually taking additional training or reading various literature from 21st-century holistic medicine practices to neurology breakthroughs. I believe it is essential that I am constantly expanding my skills and techniques in such areas as sports acupuncture and neurology, so that I can continue to offer diverse treatment solutions to my clients.
